Of black leather, w/”US” embossed cover and interior stitching to accommodate twenty .45-70 carbine cartridges.  Measures 1.375 x 6.75 x 1.5”. Brass rod lower hinge, along w/brass finial and brass protected strap.  Also modified w/brass supporting clamps on upper corners. Leather is mint, all stitching tight, interior clean. (Includes accompanying  tag, inked -“Francis Bannerman & Co.—1958”) McKeevers were the carbine cartridge boxes carried by Custer’s men and at Little Big Horn. Superb frontier army collectible. [jp]
