This is a Confederate-made percussion cap pouch. The leather is in good overall condition. This pattern has the “square” outer flap with closing tab sewn to the underside. The latch tab is broken at the hole with the lower portion missing. The interior flap is supple. Both side “ears” remain firmly sewn in place and are the smallest I’ve seen on a cap pouch. No fleece remains. Bottom has nice lead finial.
The single belt loop on the back is 1 ¾” wide at the top and tappers to less than 1 ½” at the bottom. All stitching is complete and tight.
This is as typical a Confederate percussion cap pouch as you can get. [jet]
