This is a nice example of a Confederate-made percussion cap pouch. In good condition, this pouch looks much like its northern counterpart. The outer flap is in good condition with an indistinguishable name carved upon it. The latch tab is sewn to the underside of the flap and is broken at the hole. A lead finial is mounted on the bottom. The single belt loop is of thin leather and 1 3/8” wide…a definite Confederate characteristic. Belt loop is sewn to the back of the pouch. There is a thin inner flap that retains both side “ears”. No original lamb’s wool remains. All stitching is complete and tight.
This is a typical Confederate percussion cap pouch with lead finial and single, wide belt loop. [jet]
