Black bridle leather Navy pistol cartridge box in used condition.
The leather of the outer flap is good with moderate surface dirt and wear such as rub marks and scratches. At center is an embossed oval with “USN.” The latch tab is complete and shows only light wear. It is attached to the underside of the outer flap by a single straight line of stitching.
The interior flap is also in good condition with both ears, a tooled line along the flap edge and faintly marked “US. NY / BOSTON.”
Interior of the box does not have the tin.
The interior body of the box is heavily worn and slightly smashed. The implement pocket is entirely gone. Bottom of the box has pear shaped brass finial.
Reverse has large single belt loop with minor crazing. The back seam of the top flap is lined with glue to reinforce a weak seam or to hold it in place. Bottom of the box and the lower reverse has surface finish loss. [ad]
