The leather on this box is in very good condition throughout. Leather is supple and only exhibits light crazing. This is a Pattern 1861 box with straight line stitching only holding the latch tab in place. The outer flap has two holes for a box plate and is lightly stamped “C 54.” Inner flap is good and has both ears. Implement pocket is also good but flap is missing. Both roller buckles are present as are original tins. Back of the box has both sling and belt loops. The belt loops are sewn and riveted. Latch tab is solid and round brass finial is present. No maker or inspector marks visible.
