PATTERN 1857 .69 CARTRIDGE BOX WITH SLING

$975.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 465-30

The outer flap of the box shows light wear with the average dirt and scratches that come with age. The top of the flap has moderate surface finish loss but no major problems. Leather remains strong. At center of the outer flap is an oval Model 1839 “US” box plate held in position by a strip of leather underneath. The latch tab is worn but solid and is attached to the outer flap by a single line of stitching. The inner flap is in good condition with both ears present. One is slightly turned under. The leather on the inner flap matches the surface of the outer one. The implement pocket and the body of the box are in good condition. Both tins are present but one is missing the top divider. The bottom of the box has a round brass finial and both roller buckles. The leather under the roller buckles is pushed in which is a telltale sign of use. Reverse of the box has wear to match the front but is still strong. Sling is complete and has some moderate surface finish loss. The eagle breast plate is missing though there are two sets of cut holes for it.
