PATENTED JUNE, 14TH 1859”.  There is a brass tag on top of lid with the engraving, “ISAAC C. SHULER’S IMPERIAL BURIAL CASE”. Coffin lid has hinged handles on each side that lift up and the lid completely lifts off of the base of coffin. Included is a print out of the original letter submitted by Isaac C. Shuler from the US Patent Office website.

Coffin measures 12- ¼” long X 2- ¾ “in height.

The Victorian era is widely known for its mourning rituals and customs. This is an amazing and unique find for a collector of mourning items.
