Cotton petticoat c.1870s styled with a flat front and stroke gathers creating fullness in the back. Narrow waistband measures ½" high and 25" in circumference and fastens with a brass hook-and-eye at the center back. The bottom of the petticoat is finished with a 3½" deep ruffle. A 16” deep flounce embellishes the bottom of the petticoat. The flounce is accented with two sets of three parallel rows of 1/4" spaced tucks sewn with hemstitching. Hemstitching also accents the top of the hem of each section. Length 38”; circumference 85”.
