Machine-made Civil War era leather wallet as carried by numerous civilians and soldiers of the time. The folding wallet measures 8” long x 3 ¾” high and is made of pasteboard covered with a thin veneer of leather. Interior is lined in brown polished cotton. Leather is a dark brown color. When opened up, wallet presents a center section with flaps for holding currency, as well as four pockets. Two sections inside have tooled design. Leather is supple, most stitching is tight. Shows light wear and scuffing. [sm]
