Dish features a blue transferware image of a young man passing underneath of a large Masonic compass. The saying is a maxim by Benjamin Franklin- “Keep within compass/And you shall be sure/To avoid nasty troubles which others endure”. Plate shows a colorful floral border with gilt on the rim.
