Canteen meas. approx. 4.50 inches across and is approx. 1.75 inches wide. One side has a scene of a mounted cavalryman wearing his overcoat, riding through the country side. This is all done in blue ink. The opposite side is plain with three lines of gold paint running horizontally across the center. Each side panel is outlined with a thin line of gold paint. The edge has painted gold lines reminiscent of ropes on the side of a drum. The rim of the spout and its base are also outlined in gold paint as are the two sling keepers on either side of the spout. There is an old, small piece of brown rope attached to the sling loops.

The overall condition is good. There are a few chips in the item. The backside edge has a chip at the 5 o’clock position approx. 1.25 inches long. The front has a chip at the 12 o’clock position approx. 0.25 inch long. The spout also exhibits some dirt or discoloration on the inside surface. The artwork on the side of the canteen is in excellent shape.
