Here is a pair of mismatched, Civil War period wooden drumsticks as would have been used by musicians in the mid to late nineteenth century. These specimens are turned entirely of ebony or blackwood and are shorter in length than most sticks. Each of these cylindrical tapered wooden accoutrements measures 13½” long and has a butt end diameter of ½”. One stick tapers to a small finial-shaped tip while the other tapers to a slightly larger finial. Both sticks exhibit slight dings, dents, scuffing and scratches from normal use and age with some surface grime but exhibit no cracks or splits.
