Threaded-clasp (watch handle fixture) marked 14k gold.  Hardware is well-constructed and has beautiful ornamental scrolling engraved, braiding is nicely intact.  Such pocket watch chains were in popular use during the Civil War, with the hair typically belonging to a loved one.  A fine choice for the living historian and Civil War jewelry collector!  [JC]
