Embossed zinc compact traveling mirrors such as this were widely used during the war. Most were imported and sold by town merchants and Sutlers to the soldiers in camp.
This particular version meas. approx. 3.00 inches across.
Lid has two rings with a five-pointed star at center. Around the star are the initials F. I. G. which is probably the maker. Lid is unlined.
Reverse of the body has a solid scalloped edge stand and a wire ring.
Mirror is in very good condition with no cracks. [AD]
