Nice leather case is stamped in gold gilt, “KIRBY, BEARD & COMPY’S NE PLUS ULTRA NEEDLES”. Case has a flap that tucks in a fabric band to close. It opens to reveal a leather divider with green printed paper lining on one side, and leather pockets on the other which are numbered in gold gilt for the needle sizes. Also is a pocket labeled, “DARNING”. A piece of attached fabric holds loose needles. Contains  two unopened paper packets of needles labeled, “H. MILWARD & SONS PATENT HELIX NEEDLES, MADE AT REDDITCH, ENGLAND, SHARPS 3 TO 9, PATENT WRAPPERS, J.F.MILWARD SOLE AGENT 1857, REG. U.S. PAT. OFF. 25 NEEDLES”.

Case while closed measures 2 ½” by 3 ½”.  [sl]
