This is a wartime photograph of a large painting or print showing Major General Nathaniel Bank’s army at Port Hudson. The image meas. approx. 4.45 inches wide x 7.25 inches long and is mounted on albumen paper that meas. approx. 6.00 inches wide by 9.50 inches long.
The black and white image of the print shows a long line of soldiers marching along the bank of the Atchafalaya River in front of a row of cannons. In the background are a line of steamboats. Across the bottom of the mount in pencil is “GENERAL BANKS ARMY CIVIL WAR.” This is not a period inscription.
The caption on the print itself reads “BANK’S ARMEY.”
Image has small amounts of discoloration as does the paper mount. Corners are bumped. [ad]
