Very nice post war bust view image in civilian dresss measures 6 1/4" x 8 1/4" on 10 3/8" x 12 5/8" mount. Slight waviness to mount; light scattered soiling. Period ink ID, "George A. Marsden, Speaker. / Lowell."

Marsden was a 22 year old resident of Mont Vernon, NH when he enlisted as a Sgt. on 11/9/61. On 12/12/61 he mustered into Co. G, US Volunteers 2nd Sharpshooters. Discharged for promotion to 1st Lieut. & Quartermaster of US Volunteers 1st Sharpshooters on 7/19/62. Discharged 922/64. Following the war he lived in Lowell, Massachusetts, and died there on 12/19/1906.

On the reverse of the mount is an image of George D. Robinson, an attorney who served in the Massachusetts state legislature, and was a 3 term governor of that state.
