This fine image shows General Grant seated while in uniform, circa 1864. Image was cut into an oval shape and mounted on card stock. Oval measures 12 ½” x 16 ¼”. It is very clear with good contrast. Very light surface dirt is present on the edges. This is a less commonly seen image of Grant, and we could not find any matches online.

Wood frame is stained dark brown and measures 17 ¾” x 22 ¾”. It has scattered nicks but overall good condition. Backing is loose.

Ulysses S. Grant (April 27, 1822 – July 23, 1885) was the 18th President of the United States (1869–77). As Commanding General (1864–69), Grant worked closely with President Abraham Lincoln to lead the Union Army to victory over the Confederacy in the Civil War.  [sm]
