CDV album has brown leatherette cover with embossed design on the front and back. Leatherette is in good condition, with some wear all over, but especially on the edges and corners. Spine has been covered in black cloth tape. Front cover shows a colorful painted image of a young boy. White beads decorate the four corners on the front and back covers.

Album has an ivory vellum lining on inside of front and back covers, but most of this is missing at the front. All pages are present and intact, although separated from the cover. The edges of the pages are gold gilt which has retained its brightness. The album closes with a decorative gold colored metal clasp which is still firmly attached.

Album contains 48 images, which is what the album holds. There are a variety of men, women and children of all ages. Men are in civilian attire. These images are of individuals, couples and young siblings. Backmarks checked are from Hanover, PA. Several images have hand inscribed names written on the pages.

Album measures approx. 4” x 5 ½” x 2 ½”.

This is a great album for a collector of Civil War era civilian images. There are a few post-war images as well.  [sl]
