Post-war bust view wearing civilian clothing. Printed at the bottom of the image is “Sergt. CHRISTIAN PRESSLER, Co. A”. Period ink inscription on reverse:  “Christian Pressler / Sargt / Co. A. / Paid 1.00 / Keene NH”.

Overall very good condition. Minor scattered wear and staining to edges of mount.

Born in German in 1825, Pressler was 30 years old and a resident of keene, H when he enlisted on 5/22/61 as a Sergeant. On 5/31/61 he mustered into Co. A, 2nd NH infantry. Promoted to 1st Sergt. 7/1/62; discharged for disability on 12/13/62 at Washington, DC.  Following the war he worked as a stonecutter and mason. Pressler died on 9/9/1905 and is buried in Greenlawn Cemetery in Keene.  [ld]
