Bust view wearing civilian clothing. Printed at the bottom of the image is “DANIEL S. BROOKS, Co. A.” Period ink on reverse: “Daniel S. Brooks / Co. A 2ed N.H. Vols. / Fitzwilliam / N.H. / Died in hands of enemy Oct. 21. 1861”.  No BM.

Overall fair to good condition. Scattered wear to edges of mount; paper loss at lower right corner. Minor vertical crease from middle of lower edge; staining visible on reverse of mount.

Brooks was a resident of Fitzwilliam, NH and was 19 years of age when he enlisted as a Private on 5/22/61; on 5/31/61 he mustered into Co. A, 2nd NH Inf.  Listed as a POW on 7/21/61 at 1st Bull Run; confined at Richmond, VA. Died of disease there on 10/19/61. [ld]
