View is of a mustached young soldier posed at the position of “PARADE REST.” He wears a light colored campaign hat, dark five-button sack coat, trousers and dark leggings. He also wears a light colored blanket roll with a dark cartridge belt, canteen and large haversack with a cup hanging from it. In front of him he holds his Krag rifle with fixed bayonet. The subject is posed between drawn curtains with a painted garden backdrop.
Image is clear with good contrast. Card has light surface dirt throughout but nothing that detracts. Bottom of the card is marked PIPER, WRIGHTSVILLE, PA.
Reverse is blank.
