View of three Union soldiers on top of Lookout Mountain. Bottom of mount is marked with the handwritten inscription, “POINT LOOKOUT, LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, TENN,”.

Reverse of image is marked with the photographer’s imprint which reads, “BUTLER, BONSLL & CO., ARMY PHOTOGRAPHERS, GENERAL ROUSSEAU’S DIVISION”. There is also a handwritten inscription which reads, “LOOKOUT MOUINTAIN OVER CHATTANOOGA, TENN. FEB 20TH 1864”.

Lookout Mountain is a mountain ridge located at the northwest corner of the U.S. state of Georgia, the northeast corner of Alabama, and along the southern border of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Lookout Mountain was the site of the November 24, 1863 Battle of Lookout Mountain during the American Civil War.
