Image is a waist up view of George Armstrong Custer in the uniform of a Brigadier General. He is shown seated and slightly turned to the right. Clearly visible on his left shoulder is a double-bordered strap with a single star denoting his rank.
The image is clear with good contrast but there is some foxing on the bottom half of the image. The mount has a period ink inscription that reads “G. A. CUSTER.” The mount corners are clipped.
Reverse has photographers imprint of E. & H. T. ANTHONY…NEW YORK from a Brady negative. There is some collector’s information in pencil on the back and a light pencil period inscription that reads “GEN. CUSTER- DIED.”
The CDV comes housed in a thick Lucite case.
