This unidentified CDV is a full standing view of a young soldier wearing a light colored shirt with cravat, dark vest, and light colored trousers. His right sleeve is rolled up which shows how his right arm has been amputated. This image was apparently taken as an example of how individuals survived their injuries or surgeries. It likely came from a Civil War surgeon’s collection of images of patients showing their various wounds. The bottom of the mount is marked, “W J TAIT, COR CORTLANDT & GREENWICH STS, NY”.
Reverse of image is not marked.
Image is clear with good contrast. Some light surface dirt is present.
