CDV is a three-quarter sitting view of a Confederate soldier in uniform named John N.K. Monmonier of the 8th Louisiana Infantry. He is wearing a light colored, double breasted frock coat with shoulder boards. He is holding his sword in one hand and gloves in the hand that is resting on the table.
Reverse of image does not have a photographer’s imprint but has a handwritten inscription in pencil that reads, “DR. JOHN N.K. MONMONIER, C.S.A.”.
Image is clear with good contrast. Some light surface dirt is present.
John N.K. Monmonier enlisted as a surgeon at an unknown date in the 8th Louisiana Infantry. The 8th was organized at Camp Moore, LA on June 15, 1861 and mustered out on April 9, 1965.
