Webster was mustered in on November 11, 1861 as a private. Records list him as being wounded on October 15, 1863 and September 17, 1864. He mustered out on December 8, 1864 at Rochester, NY. The 8th New York Cavalry was an active unit with the Army of the Potomac. [jet]
