Full standing view of Major Eliphalet Bredett posing in front of a painted backdrop of mountainous terrain. He wears a double-breasted frock coat with Major’s shoulder boards and light colored trousers. He has one arm behind his back and the other rests on a high-backed chair. Image is clean and clear. Photographer’s imprint on back is T. Harry Hughes…St Louis, Mo. The back is also covered with collector’s information about the Major and where this image came from. This is all done in pencil.
The 7th Mo. was involved in some skirmishing before their first big fight at Prairie Grove. Major Bredett was killed in one of these skirmishes at Cane Hill, AR. on November 27, 1862. [ad]
