Good clear image of Hooker as a Major General seated with his hands on his lap. Period ink inscription on the bottom edge reads “Hooker.” Back mark shows that it is an E. & H.T. Anthony view made from a Brady negative. One upper corner has a small chip.
Joseph Hooker is best known as commander of the Army of the Potomac during the Chancellorsville Campaign where he was badly beaten by General Lee. He did have some later success in the Western Theater during the Chattanooga Campaign.
