The couple in this image stand side by side with the woman’s hand rest on the soldier's arm. The soldier stands at left and wears a dark shell jacket, matching military vest and light trousers.
The lady wears a solid medium colored dress that is almost devoid of any decoration save for a few pleats.
Clarity and contrast are good. Mount has ever so slightly clipped upper corners with minor edge dirt from age.
Reverse has photographer’s imprint for B. W. MATTESON…MIDDLETOWN, PA. There is also a 2 cent tax stamp which dates the image between 1864-1866. [ad]
