CDV is a full seated view of a Federal officer wearing a dark frock coat with shoulder straps of an undetermined rank. He also wears medium colored trousers with a thin light officer’s leg stripe.
Sitting across from him is a woman that is no doubt his wife. She wears a medium colored dress with three dark horizontal stripes at the bottom of her skirt and a bodice which buttons down the front and is decorated with two horizontal dark stripes across the chest. The bodice also has a white lace collar.
Between the two is a young boy perhaps 5 or 6 years old. He wears a child’s uniform that has somewhat of a zouave look to it. The shirt is light with buttons down the front. The buttons sit at the center of a rectangular placard. There is a pocket on the left chest with a dark flap. Each sleeve has what appears to be a button in a dark irregular shaped patch of cloth. At the child’s waist is a dark sash. His trousers are light to match the shirt and have a baggy appearance.
Image has good clarity and contrast. Paper and mount do have some light surface dirt from age and storage.
Reverse is blank. [ad]
