The couple in this image are posed with the woman seated in a high-backed chair with the officer standing beside her.
The officer wears a dark forage cap and dark frock coat with 1st Lieutenant’s shoulder straps. He also wears dark trousers and a matching military style vest. Attached to his left breast is a metallic 2nd Corps badge with an enameled center.
The seated woman wears a dark dress with a lace collar with cloth covered buttons down the front of her bodice.
Image has good contrast. Paper and mount have light surface dirt from age and mount corners are clipped.
Reverse has a pencil inscription that reads “GRANDMA & HER BROTHER ROBERT” and beneath it to one side is a name that looks to be “P. L. Dyer” but it is not very clear. Reverse also has a photographer’s mark for W. T. & J. S. McEWENS…LEWISTOWN, PA. [ad]
