Hinged case will hold sixth-plate sized images. Design on case features a mother with child and dog. Very good condition with a couple of tiny chips at the edges. Case is lined in yellow paper. Left side has a hand written inscription, “M.G. SHEARMAN, OCTOBER 11TH-1859”. Right side also has this date written in, and the name, “R.W. SWAN” The maker’s name is printed, “LITTLEFIELD, PARSONS & CO. MANUFACTURERS OF DAGUERREOTYPE CASES, L.P. & CO. ARE THE SOLE PROPRIETORS AND ONLY LEGAL MANUFACTURERS OF UNION CASES, WITH THE EMBRACING RIVETED HINGE. PATENTED OCTOBER 14, 1856, AND APRIL 21, 1857”. [sm]
