SIXTH PLATE TINTYPE OF 2ND CORPS SOLDIER IN THERMOPLASTIC UNION CASE

$200.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 796-07

This is a first class quality image of a young Union soldier seated by a small table. He wears a kepi with a Company letter “E” on the chin strap with two numbers that are unreadable. He also wears a dark frock coat or shell jacket with a bowtie, a matching dark military vest and light trousers. From the way the subject is seated it is hard to tell if his coat stops at the waist or not. The fact that there is no piping on the collar or cuffs would lead one to believe he is wearing a shell jacket. Attached to the breast of his jacket is a light 2nd Corps badge.

The contrast is excellent and the image is very clean and clear. The image comes with the brass frame and mat which has a scroll decoration. The image and frame are housed in a thermoplastic Union case with a raised scrollwork design. The case has brass hinges and is in excellent condition with no nicks or cracks.
