Waist-up view of a young Union cavalryman. He subject wears a dark forage cap, shell jacket and trousers. The piping on the collar and down the front of the shell jacket is tinted gold as are his shoulder scales.
The subject is posed holding his cavalry saber in one hand with the blade angled across his chest while the other hand holds his scabbard. The trooper also wears his belt with rectangular plate and shoulder cross strap.
Image is clear with good contrast and comes with a complete brass frame and mat in a split leatherette case. Case exterior has some moderate surface finish loss. [ad]
