Very nice clear image of a soldier standing at the position of “SHOULDER ARMS.”

He wears a tall light-colored shako with light and dark pom-pom at top and a stamped brass laurel wreath on the front with the letters “C A” at center. He also wears a light-colored single-breasted shell jacket or coatee with matching trousers. Coat has brush epaulettes on each shoulder, with white piping on the collar. Each cuff has three buttons, each in their own square of lace. The trouser legs each have a thin white leg stripe.

Accoutrement wise the soldier wears a white buff waist belt with the small Pattern 1839 oval “US” plate with cap box and his cartridge box is suspended by a white buff cross belt with a brass clipped corner breastplate. No bayonet scabbard is visible. His musket with fixed bayonet and white buff sling looks to be a Model 1816.

Image is very clean and contrast is excellent. It comes in a half case with the usual scrollwork brass mat and frame.  [ad]
