This is a cased tintype showing seven Northern musicians posing outdoors. All wear civilian style frock coats and white vests. The six men in the front are all holding instruments and wear forage caps while a lone man in the rear has a top hat and holds an American flag. The forage caps must be stuffed with something as they are all “standing tall” and each is adorned with a brass infantry horn insignia. Of the six instruments, there is one fife, four horns, and a bass drum.
Clear image with very nice detail. Stamped copper frame holds the image, glass and copper mat together in a hard, “union” case. The thermoplastic case is in overall good condition with only the usual small chips on corners and loose hinges.
A very nice outdoor image featuring musicians. [jet]
Note: The 3rd image above has been lightened to show more detail.
