These two images came together and it is assumed that they are husband and wife.
The first image is a bust view of a solider wearing a dark frock coat. The image is held to the CDV mount by a piece of period paper glued to the reverse. The paper is part of a ledger book as it has headings for “TONS,” “POUNDS” and “GALLONS.”
The image of the woman is also a bust view. She wears her hair in curled locks on the side of her face. She also wears a light-colored blouse with a faint check pattern. The blouse looks to be double-breasted with two vertical dark stripes on the sleeve. Blouse also has a dark lace collar with a light-colored brooch at the woman’s throat. This image is also held to the mount on the reverse by a piece of glued paper that has some figure written on it in faint pencil. It is obviously a piece of scrap paper.
Both mounts have the same embossed frame around the image. Both images have good contrast and clarity. Both mounts show some light surface dirt from age.
There is no photographer’s imprint. [ad]
