E. & H.T. Anthony stereo view on orange mount. Printed on the card edge is “THE WAR FOR THE UNION - PHOTOGRAPHIC HISTORY.” View is #2509. Blue caption card on back reads “BODIES LAID OUT FOR INTERNMENT, AT BURIAL GROUND, FREDERICKSBURGH, VA.” Image shows soldiers standing in the yard of a house with wooden coffins and bodies laid out for burial. Modern research by William A. Frassanito shows that the dead pictured here are from the 1st Division of the 6th Corps and that the image was taken no later than May 20, 1864. Very clean, clear card with good contrast in the subject area but light around the edges.
