The face of this plate has a dark patina with a small spot of rust in the upper right hand corner. There are some light amounts of dirt and grime also. The face of the plate is free from major dings and dents.
The reverse has 100% of the lead fill. One of the two hooks remains but it is rusted. The lead has some surface scratches.
With the item is a old discolored typed tag that reads “U.S. CARTRIDGE BOX SLING PLATES FOUND ON THE WHITE OAK BATTLEFIELD, VIRGINIA IN 1969. BATTLE-29 JUNE 1862.”
