This stamped brass Infantry hunting horn insignia is complete except for a small piece of the loop. The mouth piece is present but bent. There are no loops present on the back. The surface of the insignia has a nice green patina. There is a small hole in the lower part of the bell. This was probably done because the piece was once attached to a relic board which were popular in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century.
This Infantry insignia was meant for wear on the front of the Model 1858 Dress hat and the top of the forage cap. It was recovered in the large Federal camp at Fredericksburg, Va.
