This dug piece is the standard stamped brass crossed cannons as worn on the soldier’s forage cap. This one is broken at the tips of both barrels. One piece is just hanging on while the other has broken free but is present. The cascable of one of the cannons is missing.
Reverse is devoid of any hooks.
Typed tag with the item reads “CROSSED CANNONS ARTILLERY CAP INSIGNIA FROM FREDERICKSBURG, VIRGINIA WINTER CAMPSITE 1862-1863.”
