The body of this shell is heavily pitted with light surface rust throughout. The base still has its copper ring sabot that shows the marks of lands and groves from having been fired while the nose still retains the Confederate paper time fuse adapter. The base of the shell just above the sabot is chipped and is missing iron half way around the base.
This shell was meant for use in a 3-inch rifle.
