The body of this Schenkl shell is rusted throughout and could use a light cleaning. The surface of the nose looks like it might clean up well while the ribbed tail will have some moderate pitting. As with most Schenkl shells the papier-mâché sabot is gone. Still present in the nose is a brass Schenkl percussion fuse. Some of the lettering on the fuse is still visible.

Shell meant for use in the 3-inch Ordnance rifle.
