All iron surfaces are rusted and pitted. The heaviest rust is in the area of the cylinder. None of the rust is scaling or flaking and nothing is loose. Pistol is complete except for the wood grips and the loading lever locking stud. The brass frame of the grip is broken at the top. None of the chambers are loaded.
The location of recovery for this piece is not known. What we do know from the serial number is that it was made in early 1863. The serial number is completely visible on the tip of the brass trigger guard only. The number is 135731.
