Fired from a rifled 42 pounder gun which exhibits the gun’s lands & grooves on the lead cup sabot. Many Dyer shells fired failed to explode because of the large lead sabot. Has remains of the wood fuse. This projectile was recovered from Island #10, Tennessee. Other examples found in Vicksburg and Mississippi River naval battles. Nice example, some light scattered pitting around nose.
