This band looks to be the center band off of a Model 1861 rifle musket. The item is rust encrusted but stable with only minor material loss. Attached to the bottom of the band is what looks to be the mount for a sling swivel.

This item was recovered on the battlefield of Fredericksburg, Virginia.
