Shell has moderate surface pitting, and almost no surface rust. Six ribs run along the base of the shell. Brass Schenkl percussion fuse plug is somewhat damaged, but some of the patent lettering is still visible. Shell was intended for use with a 4.5 inch model 1861 siege rifle.
