EAGLE BREAST PLATE RECOVERED AT FORT ETHAN ALLEN, VIRGINIA

$79.50 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: R21630

This pattern 1826 eagle breast plate has a green patina on the face. The details of the eagle are good but the iron hooks on the reverse rusted off leaving behind areas of rust on the face. The rust starts just above the eagle’s head then picks up again at mid body and ends near the talons. The bottom edge of the plate is also curved upward.

The reverse has 99% of the lead fill but as stated above both of the iron hooks are gone. The place of recovery is lightly written on the surface of the lead fill on the back.

Plate was recovered at Fort Ethan Allen, Virginia which was one of the forts in the defenses of Washington.

This plate was meant for use on the sling of the cartridge box.
