Excavated artillery shell fragment. Amazingly this 30-pounder Parrott shell exploded and broke almost exactly in half.  You could not ask for a better display piece to illustrate the cross section of this type of artillery shell. The sabot is missing. In “dug” condition, but perfectly solid with no surface flaking. A one-of-a-kind display piece.
